Cavens has been the outstanding cask ale

pub in Dumfries since it opened in 2003.

It lifted the title of  “Dumfries & Stewartry

CAMRA Branch Pub of the Year” in 2006, 2007,

2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.  In 2009 and 2010 it was

also Pub of the Year for South of Scotland & Northern Ireland

and runner-up in CAMRA’s Scotland & NI Pub of the Year competition.

The bar  has 3  ‘house ales’

and 4 guest beers drawn

from a widely varied range of

breweries from north and

south of the border.

It has a  “customer request” arrangement which involves regulars in the selection

of beers on order.

The new facilities have placed Cavens firmly at the top of the pub trade in the South of Scotland.

The pub has a lively bunch of regular customers who enjoy occasional ‘themed’ nights such as on Valentines Day and Halloween. It is a firm favourite with football fans before and after games at the nearby Palmerston Park - home to Queen of the South FC.

It is renowned for serving up a superb range of

great-value meals between 11.30am and 9.00pm

each day except Monday (Sun from 12.30pm).

It’s said to have the best fish & chips in the town.

Make a point of looking at the daily “specials sheets”.
