The Stewartry is the central part of  Dumfries & Galloway. It’s principal town is Kirkcudbright. Other major towns are Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and Gatehouse of Fleet.

The Stewartry is ideally-suited for the outdoor enthusiast, with miles of quiet country roads for cycling and well-managed forest trails for walking and mountain biking.  It also has more than its share of good Real Ale pubs to visit along the way.

The area is also a haven for outdoor sports enthusiasts.  Golfing, angling and bird watching opportunities are plentiful.  After exercise, you’ll find no  shortage of good cask-ales on offer in some great local pubs
